# Distilled docs

> How to connect your AI agent to Distilled phones: API keys, the MCP server, the REST API and the TypeScript SDK.

Distilled runs Android phones in the cloud for AI agents. Each phone has its own identity and its own way out to the internet. Drive one yourself, an action at a time, or hand a task to a run and Distilled works through it on the phones you choose.

Distilled runs Android phones in the cloud. You use them from the console in your browser, from your AI agent over MCP, or from your own code over the REST API.

> You set everything up yourself in the console: [start a free trial](https://app.distilled.cx/register?start=trial&from=docs) or top up your balance by card, allocate phones, and create API keys under Developers → API keys. The [Quickstart](https://distilled.cx/docs/quickstart/) takes you from there to a screenshot in five steps.

## Three ways in

All three use the same API key.

- [MCP server](https://distilled.cx/docs/mcp/): Add one URL to any MCP client and your agent gets tools to see and act on phones and to start runs.
- [REST API](https://distilled.cx/docs/authentication/): JSON over HTTPS, for any language. Every route and field is also in the OpenAPI document at `/v1/openapi.json`, which needs no key.
- [TypeScript SDK](https://distilled.cx/docs/sdk/): A typed client with retries and run streaming.

## How it fits together

- [Phones](https://distilled.cx/docs/phones/): Allocated to your workspace, kept until you release them, paid monthly or hourly while they run.
- [Controlling a phone](https://distilled.cx/docs/control/): Observe the screen, act on it, and observe again. Each call holds the phone for five minutes.
- [Skills](https://distilled.cx/docs/skills/): A task inside one app, written as short plain-language steps.
- [Runs](https://distilled.cx/docs/runs/): One skill carried out on up to 50 phones, with every action recorded beside a screenshot.
- [Usage and egress](https://distilled.cx/docs/usage/): Traffic leaves through vetted US mobile IPs, or through your own proxy.
- [Billing](https://distilled.cx/docs/billing/): A prepaid balance pays for phones, and for traffic and agent use past what they include.
